Today, I used an interactive activity from the Scholastic News website in my 8th grade history class. It required students to pretend that they were the incoming president, pick a cabinet and balance the counties budget. They then had to justify their decisions. I found that students were very engaged by this activity and it led to many good conversations and a lot of learning. I was very happy with how the class went. This is one of those activities I will be recommending to colleagues and doing with future classes. Take a look at this great resource on the Scholastic News Website located at the following address; http://teacher.scholastic.com/scholasticnews/games_quizzes/electiongame/game.asp .
