Using Hand Held Devices

As we move into an age of powerful hand held PDA‘s and more importantly smart phones. The potential of these devices on education are profound. One such use is what is called Artificial Reality gaming. AR gaming is an attempt to combine the physical and virtual environments to teach students specific high level concepts. This type of program can be created using open source software like Mscape. This software allows you to create these AR Environments to allow students to problem solve and learn in an hands on environment. http://www.mscapers.com/

The following play list looks at HP’s Mscape. This software has some excellent educational potential. It allows educators to put students in the real world, working together to solve a problem. Allowing them to think critically and communicate with each other while learning.

      Currently there is no cost you can just download one of the AR web programs and create your own. There is a bit of a learning curve but it is manageable.
